List of Insanely Fun Activities You Can Do Each Weekend
Sometimes we run out of ideas about what to do on weekends or in our free time. So I made this long list of insanely fun activities you can check out anytime. Here they are:
1. Go for a walk and observe …
…whether is is around the park or a lake (or through the city center) and observe nature/people, take your time to really notice things.
Look at the way the river runs, the way people act. It is unexpectedly and surprisingly quite interesting activity.
2. Make a list of random things, write each thing down on the piece of paper, fold all of the papers and then pull out the random one.
Your job is to draw this thing as accurate as possible. Make that a game of more than one people.
Let someone else write down a few words and you pull out one paper. You do the same for the other person.
3. The same thing with papers as before but instead of drawing, play a pantomime.
4. Draw whatever your heart feels like.
5. Make a short movie.
Become a movie director and an actor for a day. You know you’ve wanted this. Who hasn’t? All the people I know would love to come up with the great or unique movie script or atleast a story plot.
Gather your family and/or friends and make a short script and a movie, it can be something funny or it can be an action, even drama. After it’s done, watch it together on a movie night….or, you know…like normal people do…upload it on YouTube.
(I meant to be a little sarcastic but have I succeeded? Meh, probably not.)
6. Take photos.
It can be with your DSLR camera or with you smartphone, if you don’t have a camera. It doesn’t matter really, as long as you enjoy it.
Go outside and take as many photos as possible, look for really interesting stuff, like unusial trees, beautiful leaves and flowers, buildings, anything really. You might find a true photographer within you.
And I’m not joking, that happened for me!
7. Jigsaw puzzle
Oh, the satisfaction it brings. I can’t describe it, I simply love this activity! I have a collection of framed jigsaw puzzle pictures that I’ve put together over the past few years.
If you want to chase boredom + have fun + have something amazing on your wall later on, you definitely don’t want to forget about this.
But beware, it can be addictive, at least for me! Just start slow to learn about methods, buy a 500 piece puzzle for a start and then move to a larger one.
8. Play a music game (if you’re musically intelligent).
Pick a music era/genre and listen to the songs from that specific category with your spouse or a friend. One of you picks a song and the other one tries to figure out as soon as possible whose and what song is it.
9. Play video games.
My boyfriend and I sometimes take our controllers and play video games such as car racing, action games. I personally love racing games and puzzle games in which you have to solve some problems or better, a crime.
10. If you own an Xbox Kinect or a WII console, you can’t miss these…
- karaoke
- dance choreography
- adventure or sports games
- guitar hero
11. Take a paper and a pen and write a story/poem.
If you’re more of a romance type, write a romantic story. If not, make it more of a fun one, or even horror if that’s what you’re into.
This activity will boost your imagination and maybe, just maybe this short story can turn into a novel, worth sharing and publishing. You never know where it might take you.
12. Make a movie marathon.
It can be a Lord of the rings style marathon or you watch more different kinds of movies. In my
I personally recommend watching animated movies because they have a strong ‘happy’ effect and they help us feel more peaceful and stress-less, just like when we were as children.
13. Go to a cinema.
14. Go to a stand-up comedy.
Stand up comedy is a must especially if you were having a stressful week. You’ll be laughing so hard that you’ll forget about all the problems that have been happening in the previous days.
15. Visit a local theatre.
It doesn’t always have to be a cinema. Going to the theatre is something different and exciting. Put on your best clothes, go see an interesting act and pretend you’re very knowledgeable in that area. It’s going to be fun, I promise!
16. Don’t forget about zip line.
If you’re more of the adrenaline type and don’t want to try something extreme, this is a great activity for a start. This year was the first time I tried zip lining and it was the best time. I would want to do this over and over again.
If you’re into speed but not extreme, if you’re not too afraid of the heights plus don’t want to miss out on the amazing view, this is it! If you’re not entirely
17. Kayaking or canoeing.
18. Organize your house (or something in your house).
19. Make a try-on ‘contest’.
Become a model for a day. Go through all of your clothes, try on especially the ones you’re not usually wearing, combine them with each other and with
That is why you usually wear the same bunch of clothes and the rest of them are just hanging there waiting for the right moment.
So really try them on, prepare different combinations for your next workweek and if you still don’t feel like wearing these clothes, well, then here is my next suggestion…
20. Declutter your home.
It doesn’t sound like a fun task but
21. Print some photos.
If you own a quality camera on your DSLR or your smartphone, then you can print your own photos on a large format without a problem. Just imagine how it would look on your wall when your friends and family visit and they ask you who took the photo. You’ll be very proud that it was you who made it.
22. Buy some wall stickers and find a perfect place on the wall for them.
It can either be an image of something you like or it can be a quote. I personally love both, it brings a soul to the place, puts us in a better mood and it’s beautiful to look at.
23. Go window-shopping (or eye-shopping).
Even if you don’t buy anything, just checking through stuff and imagining how would they fit into your place is something we enjoy doing. Maybe one of these things will come in handy one day and you’ll know exactly where to find it without searching for it.
24. Experiment with wonderful new hairstyles.
There is no better time to experiment with your hair than when you have spare time. You can never do that before going somewhere because chances are that everything will go wrong. You have to be ready for that next dinner. Learn how to create a few new hairstyles in advance so when the time comes you’ll look more amazing than ever.
25. Watch funny videos.
26. DIY something.
I know this one is far from specific. Don’t worry about it. I’ve been there, a range of DIY is so wide that we feel overwhelmed too many times. That is why I have a post created especially for non-DIY-savvy, 20 super easy DIY ideas on a budget. So if you’re not an experienced DIY-er but are eager to learn a few new simple tricks for home improvement, you’re invited to read this post.
27. Play a game of cards.
Don’t know any games? Try these.
28. Play/solve sudoku or crosswords.
29. Go running.
30. Learn to juggle.
31. Prepare a bath (if you have one)
Light a few candles, put on some relaxing music and chill out in a hot bath doing nothing but thinking about good stuff. You may also read something while having a bath, that’s always a good idea.
32. Go swimming.
33. Ever tried bowling?
Now is your time.
34. How about a game of pool or darts?
That’s always a fun thing to do. It’ll kill boredom alright. It’s easy to spend 5 hours playing pool or darts without even knowing it.
35. Go for a test drive with the car you like.
Doesn’t cost you anything really, just be responsible and that’s it.
36. Just dance.
Turn on your favourite music and dance away the stress. Dancing helps your body and mind tremendously.
37. Have a board games night.
One of the most fun things there is to do at home. There are plenty of board games but here are the most recommended ones by Emily. Your place needs to have a few spare board games just in case.
38. Listen to podcasts, educational and inspirational videos.
39. Make’n’bake some bread.
40. Bake some yummy cookies.
Baking cookies really couldn’t be more simple. If you’re not an experienced baker or you don’t believe me, here is an absolutely yummy raspberry chocolate chip cookie recipe.

42. Be a dog walker in your neighbourhood.
43. Visit an animal shelter, play with pets and take their dogs for a walk.
44. Learn a foreign language.
Learning a new language is more entertaining than you might think. Be ready to laugh your ass off while acquiring this new skill, not to mention you’ll become much more confident and proud of yourself.
The coolest and free website for learning many new languages is Duolingo (totally recommend it, I’m actually kinda’ addicted to it because it’s so much fun). You may also try Babbel, many people recommend it but I haven’t tried it for myself yet.
45. Prepare popcorn.
46. Go to a café with a nice view to just sit, relax and read something.
47. Watch the sunset.
48. Have a picnic in the park.
Bring some food and drink or some snacks, a good book (you’ve probably noticed by now how I always involve reading in almost anything), blanket and enjoy the day. One of my favourite ‘activities’.
49. Go stargazing ( + photograph the stars if you have a DSLR camera).
50. Go to the library.
51. Sightseeing.
52. Set an appointment in a beauty salon.
53. Meditate.
54. Solving riddles.
Not only is exciting and brings satisfaction after solving a riddle but it also drives your thoughts away from everyday worries. If you find it difficult to distract yourself from these exhausting thoughts, riddles are exactly what you need.
55. Take a sauna.
I finally got to sauna although it should be the first on my list, that’s how much I love it and find it relaxing. If you’re looking for something to ease your mind and make your body feel lighter, sauna is the real deal.
56. Pick up berries or fruit.
57. Start gardening.
You’re probably a little skeptical but let me tell you that gardening doesn’t have to be a stressful obligation but a rather therapeutical and fun activity. Just go slow, don’t try to do too much at once otherwise it will become exhausting. A few square feet of herbs and flowers planting will do just fine in the beginning. If you don’t have a garden, you can try indoor gardening. Yeah, it’s a thing.
58. Take dance lessons.
59. Feed the ducks and swans.
Go to the nearest lake or river, bring some old bread or other appropriate food and watch them gather around the food. There’s something awfully therapeutical about this I cannot explain it by words. Try it for yourself.
60. Buy inexpensive and cute little things for your house.
It doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot, set a low budget and go buy stuff like cute pillows for your living room and other home decoration accessories.
61. Daydreaming.
It sure doesn’t sound like an activity but it is something we all like to do sometimes plus it does chase the boredom away. I am capable of spending quite some time daydreaming and visualizing my future vacations, my future home and my future life in general.
62. Go to a concert.
If you do have some extra money, you might want to spend it on concert of one of your favorite artists rather than buying something. I honestly believe that spending money on creating beautiful memories is more important than on buying stuff.
63. Reflect on your life, create an in-depth list of all your achievements and things you are grateful for.
64. Make an annual plan (or a life plan).
65. Grab your notebook or a laptop and go work outside if possible.

Having the same ol’ house arrangement can start to become a little boring after a while and making some changes makes your house exciting and it feels like new again.
Some people make rearrangements more frequently than other and there are some people that don’t even come to the idea. If you haven’t thought about it before, now is a good time. Trust me, a little home refreshing never hurt anybody.
